Default 98 neon wont start

if the camshaft sensor is bad will it prevent it from firing?

According to the thread link below is should run but not properly with a bad cam sensor.

you should also be gettinga cel code 11 or the "P" codes if using a code scaner.
[ul][*]11 - No crank reference signal at the Powertrain control Module (PCM).[*]11 (P1390) - Timing belt skipped one tooth or more.[*]11 (P1391) - Intermittent loss of Camshaft Position Sensor (CMP) or Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKP). [/ul]
