yeah fifth gear is for highway driving, not racing

 

Iknow 5th is cruising gear and ya u dont need it on a 1/5 mile or in my case 1/8thim just saying if ur Racing dont use it cause it sucks!!!!

 

I have raced many many cars. The other day I was behind a 1990's Trans Am.It was a v8 and we were both trying to pass a line of cars.He finally punched it to pass them, and I punched it after him.I could hear his engine revving like crazy, but I was gaining on him rapidly.I woulda smoked him.

Then the other day on the freeway a trans am slp was alongside me.I looked up slp after the race, and found out it stands for "Street legal performance". We were at about 75-80mph and did about 3-4 attempts from there on up.Dropping it into 4th, he would immedietly pull about 5-6 cars on me...lol Then one time I dropped it in 3rd and he only pulled about 3 cars one me.Either way, he was driving a 6 speed with 330-350hp. Cant remember exactly.He prolly wondered what the hell a neon was doing only 5-6 car lengths behind him at 120+...lol

Speaking of 5th gear.I was racing an Audi TT one time in Cincinatti on those 4-5 lane freeways they got.I was behind him going like a raped ape till we hit about 120..ish. I had no more in 4th..so I went into 5th...believe it or not...I was actually passing him in 5th gear.Im guessing we were over 125 at this point.5th gear has some power...but not untill you give 4th everything it has...lol

Actually..I was the one who backed off.There was a truck that came into my lane...and going that fast....well Im not gonna risk anything.A friend of mine came over one time with an Audi TT...It was his boss's car, that he let him use for the weekend.He would not let me drive it...but he took me around town in it...and showed me what it could do.It was fast...but honestly I thought my neon was faster. They have a turbo, which makes a lot more hp than my neon, but they are also all wheel drive, and heavy as hell.I could'nt get him to line up and drag me..lol Either way I dont think the Audi TT was backing off one bit...I tapped my brake for a split second when I seen the truck, and the Audi next to me sounded like a nascar.Maybe he wanted to make me feel better by making it a close race....but if your allready doing 125+...I'd say both of us were giving it our all.:P

 

Maybe its was the 180HP version and not the 225 one.

 

point is the rev limiter (on mine stock ) is 118mph i can go 118mph in 4th gear i hope that sums it up

 

That would be your speed limiter, not rev limiter.

 

125 dont see that happening unless you ditched the ecu. my car wont go past 118 either.(unless your driving a 95 acr)
