Stick a few periods and capitols in there to make it easier to read for one.
The 95 motor has to use the 95 head. The one way to tell is the 95 has a steel valve cover.
The 96+ has an aluminum valve cover. 95 is the only year you cant mix & match with.
If you have a later 95 it might have the 96 style engine and it would be interchangeable. If your car says it a 95 , but has a 5 lug, you most likely have the 96+ engine. If it has 4 lug its definately a 95 and gonna have the older style motor. Ive found 5 or 6 neons like that already.
Theres holes in the block and head on the 95 that are different for the crackcase ventallation system.
Oh BTW i bet its #1 rod

Buy a complete 97-99 DOHC engine, harness and PCM and drop it into the 95.

The last 6 digits of the vin is just the production number, doesnt mean anything else. Spud's valve cover in the pic is from a DOHC and that won't fit on the SOHC.

Yes. Check the 8th digit in the vin#, if its a "Y" then its a DOHC, if its a "C" then its a SOHC.

You can swap the head, just make sure to keep the same valve cover on it as they are different. You can replace the crank...it's a lenghty process, but it can be done.
