The 96 relay is different than the 97-99 relay though.

Yes, they are a standard relay that plugs right in!!

RE: radiator fan relay keeps burning out
100 bucks a pop for a relay GEEZE! I have like 6 of them sitting in my garage.. I'll cut ya a deal, since they are used, 50 bucks a pop
As for going through so many of them, I would definately start tracing your wires and such and make sure nothign is getting pinched and grounded out. See if you have a bad wire somewhere or a bad connection or ground...

Rad Fan relay looks nothing like Horn relay.
does anyone know how to test the relay? (ie what each pin is for). i looked and looked in service manual and cant find it.
the wiring is rotten on this car, that is for sure. i had one of the terminals brake off from main harness.

RE: radiator fan relay keeps burning out
Ok I think I may have found something. The Haynes manual just shows a standard relay for the fan. The download manual shows a 4 pin solid state speed control relay. Unfortunately there is no photo and no indication of what year it was used. I’m sure this was not used on my 95 Neon.

Sorry about the confusion the 95-96 Neon’s use a conventional relay in the power distribution center.
Read through the following links apparently there was a recall on the 97's.

From what I’ve read the relay is damaged by voltage spikes, the repair involves replacing the relay and adding a jumper wire E/W a protection diode.
This was a recall you should see if Dodge will cover it, like they should have the first time you had it replaced.
