look at this diagram as if you were standing behind the car looking towards the front.
If you are standing in front of the car looking towards the back. The speed sensor is going to be located behind and to the left of the transmission cables. you have to remove the intake pipe to make it easier to work.

I'd be checking the connection at the speed sensor also.
id check that speed sensor. i just droped a 95 sport tranny in my 98 4door and i had to switch out the sensors. id start there. pretty easy to pull out just need car ramps and a 10 mm wronch and it should pop out.

you dont have to remove anything! there is a bar that connects to the tranny to the block that will be a lil bit of a bugger to deal with but you can get that lil bolt out and pop it out without removing anything. its located on the back side of the transmission where the the pass. side trans axle connects to the tranny right on top of that. any questions pm me good luck.
