cylinder head wont come off
i am removing the cylinder head from my car and can't get it to lift off further than about one centimeter. i have followed all of the steps outlined by alldata as follows:[*]Relieve fuel system pressure as outlined under "Precautions".[*]Drain cooling system.[*]Remove air cleaner and disconnect all vacuum lines, electrical harnesses and fuel lines from throttle body.[*]Remove throttle linkage.[*]Remove accessory drive belts.[*]Remove intake manifold power brake vacuum connection.[*]Raise and support vehicle, then remove exhaust pipe from manifold.[*]Remove and set aside power steering pump assembly.[*]Disconnect coil pack electrical connector and remove coil pack and bracket.[*]Remove cam sensor and fuel injector electrical connectors.[*]Remove timing belt and camshaft sprocket.[*]Remove cylinder head cover.[*]Remove rocker arm shaft assemblies.[*]Remove cylinder head bolts.[*]Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:[/ol]
i still can't get the head to lift off of the block more than about a centimeter or so. what am i forgetting? its actaully lifting the block about an inch in the motor mounts, so its under tension.

i have the single overhead and there are ten bolts. there is no doubt that they cam off because there is already a gap between the head and the block and if there were a bolt there still my threads would be screwed. thanks for the input though.
The only thing I can think of is the inside timing belt cover. Looks like you covered every thing else unless the exhaust manifold is catching on something.
There is also a 1/2"or 5/8" coolant line that connects below where the thermostat housing goes.

have both the inner and outer timing cover off of the engine and have the belt removed too. i can't think of anything that would cause the exhaust pipe to lift the whole engine about an inch. i have a small gap between the cylinder and the block, and the rest of the lifting i'm doing has raised the engineabout an inch. something is seriously bound.
i figured it out... there is are two bolts attaching the throttle body to the tranny and there is another bolt mounting the intake to the power steering bracket. both bolts were not mentioned by alldata, i'll have to give them an email. it doesn't mention the heater hoses either. thanks for the help.
