Default Auto Trans id question

How can you tell the first gear ratio in an auto car? Is there a casting number or something to id them? I know mine isn't the good one...to slow off line. My wife has to drive it from time to time so a stick isn't gonna work so....I need to find an auto with the really good ratio. Thanx

Are you thinking if swapping an auto tranny from a different car? Won't work.

Your choice is swapping in a 5-spd or building up the auto tranny you already have.

I know the automatic neons came with 3 different first gear ratios. I just need to know how to identify them so I can get an auto with the 3.93 first gear.

Not sure on that one. Why not get a performance valve body? Quicker and probably cheaper.

Thanks das...I will get one of those. I think I'll call the local trans shop and find out if they can chance the first gear.
