Just bought a used 96 neon and the speedometer isnt working. Occasionally it pops back up and works fine.

Should I assume the gauge cluster is bad?


Where is the speed sensor on this car?

 

Do a search, Neon Speedometer Problems you will find a thread on this problem and how to fix it. There is a printed circuit board on the back of the cluster. You take it off and remelt all the solder connections on the two plugs that go into the whireing harness.
