i have a 96 i am planing on buying a 2000 sohc will the 96 pcm work or do i need to get the 2000 pcm

you can use the 96 pcm....but you will have to take all the snesor off of the 96 motor and put them on the 2000

yes the PCM on the 96 will work fine but there will be a few things that you will have to change
