Need opinions
I sold my 96 neon 5spd sohc about 2 months back. Reason for selling was the miles and at the time i was offered from my dad to buy a 95 mustang v6 auto. I at first didn't want it but with going toschool soon, i needed something reliable with low miles. NOT saying neons are not reliable, hell i had my 6 months and never a problem, in the cars life only thing that went wrong was the power steering pump. Anyways, i'm almost done paying my dad off for the mustang and i want to put it up for sale on ebaymotors for a reserve of 3800, it only has 64k miles on it. I found a 99 neon r/t for sale at the same place i got my mustang. He wants 2995 for it, it has 94.5k miles, 5spd(i think all were) aftermarket taillights and foglights, a rice can muffler(haven't heard it yet, might be ok) and a few things painted in the inside(few vents, glovebox). I haven't test drove it yet or asked any question, i want to know before i go to far into this, it this a good deal? Black with silver stripes. I'm sure it is a r/t cause of the badging, the rims, and the all wheel disc brakes. This a good deal or should i look around. I should have about 3800-4500 from the mustang but i want to have some money left over from buying another to pay off more of my debt so i can invest money into my car. I really want a neon, if anyone knows someone with a DOHC 5spd with below 100k miles for sale in PA let me know.
another question on this is how fast is an 99 r/t neon with an average driver? i was thinking around 16.0-16.3 . I drove stick for about a year, never went to a strip tho, none close to me, but i do know some of basics for racing, and have done my fair share of street racing. thanks again
Since it's close to the 100,000 mile mark, I would ask for the maintenance history records on it. They probably won't have them and then let him know, it will be time to change the timing belt, water pump and idler pulley soon. That should help bring down the cost of the neon. I'd offer somewhere in the neighborhood of about $2100-$2300. It might sound like a lowball, but remember...neons are a dime a dozen. So don't let them try to pressure you into buying it.
Off the showroom floor, the neon could run mid 15's.

i like that one......more or less i just like how the stripes go all the way down the front and rear bumpers....and under/over the spoiler......too bad it wasnt an actual r/t though[&:]
a few monthes ago i picked up a 98 neon r/t....2 door, blue w/silver stripes....power everything.....141,000 miles...paid $1,000 for it
i took it home and put new struts on the back and took out the cd player that was in it and replaced it with a stock am/fm cassette......sold it on ebay for $2,000
so the neons are cheap, but the r/t's are a bit more desirable for some people.....even if you couldnt drop down the price, i still would say it isnt a bad price......but it should be cheaper
