Default '90 W150 need suggestions please

I am new to this forum and also new to my 1990 Ram W150 5.2L 318. It is a beast! I love this truck. I am now looking to upgrade it a bit. I want to put a cold air intake on it but have had no luck in finding any. Any suggestions on how to solve this problem? I am looking to get more mpg and power out of it, any other helpful hints will be amazing! I want to unlock the potential to my truck and I need help! Thank you!

i don't think a CIA would do anything for the engine which is why you are not finding any for our trucks. if anything the closest you will find is just an open element air cleaner. there is not much else you can really do to upgrade these engines to get better mileage since you can't do anything to the stock computer.

there is pretty much nothing you can do to the dodge trucks made between 88-95 unless you switch to carb. the only thing you could do is a tune up and repair any problems that arise.

Being new here I don't want you to think crazzywolfie is just being a negative voice so I will let you know he is correct. Without totally revamping all of the electronics and the fuel system there is very little you can do to these 1st Gen computerized trucks. Sorry. If you want to play with your a truck you really have two choices, go newer or go older.

If emissions are not a problem (this depends on where you live) the exhaust can be modified to let the engine breath better. Bear in mind that the computer is cooled by the intake air if you plan to modify the intake.

Thanks for the information, I am bummed out but I really appreciate the help. I live in Oregon so emission standards arent that bad. What type of exhaust modifications would you suggest? Headers? High flow cat? Thank you!

If emissions aren't a problem delete the cat and add headers with true dual exhaust that run both pipes down the passengers side to avoid the fuel tank.

Sounds great thanks! What is a good brand for headers and exhaust?

Ive heard hooker headers are good.

As for exhuast I have a flowmaster series 40 and it sounds great.

To add to his question, is going to an open air filter a good idea vs stock?
