Default Power Window Pics???

Does anyone have a picture of behind the door panel on their 1st gen? The kid I got my 92 from said it's off track, but I think it's missing a few parts and can't seem to find a pic online of the door without the panel to see if it's all there or not.

Power windows on the 1st Gens doesn't seem to have been a hot option. Mine are after market so I can't help you with a picture. You can drive the truck without the door panel so I would just remove the panel and see what you are dealing with. You can always drop by the dealer and have them print out a parts blow out of the power window system.

I pulled the passenger side last night and looked at it. For some reason the PO took the bolts off that bolt the motor to the door so it's just hanging there. The motor works. The track piece that goes on the bottom of the glass was laying behind the seat so I think it's all there just apart for some unknown reason. Now I guess my question is does that bottom track piece need to be glued to the window or does the glass just sit in it?

Mine is held in place by a seal between the glass and the glass lift channel. It is a tight fit. The regulators are originally held in place by rivets that must be drilled out to remove them. You can use bolts and nylock nuts to put them back in place. The usual problem is the nylon inserts that ride in the glass lift channel usually stop rolling due to corrosion and then wear on the top side and the lift arm then falls out of the channel.

The passengers side regulator is held in by some bolts so I'd say it's been changed at some point. I'm going to try to see if I can just slide the bottom track piece back onto the window and try it that way. I may have to stick a little window weld on it to hold it. We shall see.

So should I just stick it back on and set the glass in the channel or should I put some window weld or something in to help hold it. There's really no where for it to go once it's in there so I may not need to add anything.

As long as it is a good fit and not sloppy I would just put it back in. If it is sloppy I would get a new seal. Any good glass shop should be able to sell you a new seal.

Ok. I'll slide it up on the bottom of the window and try to get the wheels back into it and see what happens.

Mine are over 15 years old and I am sure they are no longer made. I got them from J C Whitney and they don't carry them any more. My kit gave me power windows and power door locks. I would recommend the type that totally replaces the manual regulator. The type that uses a cable between the motor and the regulator and an adaptor to operate the existing regulators are no good and haven't lasted in my experience but they may have improved.
