Default 1993 4x4 died !!

Hi !!!!!! New here and need some help!! Got a 93 150 4X4 5.2.......... couple months ago had no start issue........ crank sensor fixed it......... Turned key the other day .........heard relays clicking.... a fizzing sound and smoke came out of engine bay where the battery is located..... Now have no start..........no fire ...........no fuel......... no check engine light. Put new asd relay and checked wiring.........couldn't see anything burnt. As much smoke as there was I thought I would be able to tell what it was. Checked the red wire going into the ecu and it showed 12 volts. Any ideas ? Any way to check codes since CEL is no longer coming on ?

have you check to see if you are still getting power at the fuse panel. i am guess you fried a wire. exactly which wire you fried would be hard to tell with a lot of inspecting and testing. could try putting the key in the run position and check to see which fuses in the fuse panel still have power. that could help narrow down the problem.

Default Fuses??

When you say fuse panel..... are you talking about the one under the steering wheel? Out by the batt all I see is 4 relays.

i am talking about the one under the steering wheel. if there is no power there then the problem is in the wiring between the battery and the steering column and if there is power at all the fuses then the problem is between the fuse panel and wiring under the hood.

i doubt you would have seen smoke if the computer fried. smoke usually come from wire casing when the wire inside overheats.

Turn your key to the "Run" position, then with a light tester or voltmeter, put your neg (-) lead on the neg post of your battery and then the other on something metal on your truck. Clean spot on the radiator support should work. If it lights up or shows volts, you have a hot wire that chaffed and is shorting on your frame/body. Wolfies method of tracing the burnt one works well. Check fuses for power. If you have one that should be hot but isnt, you probably found a winner. Let us know what you turn up. Good luck!

Hey Guy's I checked the radiator support ......... no volts showing and checked all fuses.............. no fuses blown and all still got fire and everything on the truck as far as I can tell still works except check engine light.... it was working till this happened........... have got 12 volts at the ASD relay but not going into the coil.......... I do most of my own car repair but am not the best when it comes to the electrical stuff. I got most of the wiring from the ecu to the motor uncovered and don't see anything melted anywhere........... don't know where to go from here.

so was there power at the fuses? the fuses being good or bad is usually about half the problem. if there is no power getting to the fuses with the key on then nothing will really work and we could really narrow down your problem and where you need to look.

Power at the ASD needs explaining. You have 12V supply at the relay but is the relay putting out 12V? You have two 12V supplies to the relay. One is a large power wire for the relays load side and one is a smaller wire from the switch that activates the relays coil that closes the relays load contacts. Do you have both voltage signals?
