My Perpetual 76 Project Thread
Only 50 amp? Damnit.
I really didn't want to have to do any soldering on this.
I went to wally world to get 10ga wire, they don't carry it. So I'm going to O'reilly's next week to get some. I guess I'll bring the iron from work along with the multimeter.
I fixed that connection with the inline fuse in it, pulled the fuse and nothing bad happened, so I think nothing goes to it.

I didn't say they were cheap but they go up to 150 AMPS. This is an example but you should be able to find them local.

Alright, so I went and picked up some new bulbs for the dome light in the cab. Got the same bulb that should be in it, T90. Go to install them and, yeah, they fit, but it won't come on. WTF?
I put in a 2057 marker light previously to see if it was hot and yeah, it's hot. But it won't turn off with that bulb and it won't come on with the proper bulb? Grrrr...

I looked at the 1004, single pin base. This truck has a dual pin base. The T90 works. Figured out what was wrong: I need door switches. If I turn the light on manually, it works, leave it up to the doors, nada.
Now to figure out why the bed light doesn't work. I have a feeling it's corrosion.
Also, figured out this truck HATES the cold. I started it and it was spewing black smoke for about two minutes until I stabbed it and it brought the RPM up. Oops.

sounds like you were looking at a 1003 bulb and not a 1004 bulb. a 1004 bulb has 2 pins. the 1004 bulbs are fairly special and pulls its ground from one of those pins. when you open the door or turn the switch all the way till it clicks it grounds the one terminal. most bulbs draw there ground from the casing which is why the 2057 stayed on. you have constant power at the light socket.
huh.
well, I'll be damned.
The T90 and the 1004 both work the same for the most part. It DID have a T90 in it at one point since I found it buried in the seat.
I guess the original one burned out and they replaced it with what they had.
Well, I guess I'll be buying more bulbs. So the 1004 will fully work with the door switches, right?

Yeah, it's not listed. I went out on a wing and found it.
AZ (whom I only use their site since they're stupid) has the single pin one and the 1004 listed. I feel like a dufus. Well, I'll be over in the area again thursday hopefully, I shall swing by and exchange them then.
You don't really realize how much you take a new truck for granted until your dome doesn't work right.
