My Perpetual 76 Project Thread
having a working dome light is nice. i went without a dome light for about a year. ended up having a broken wire under the floor mat. now i just have to replace the door jamb switch on the passenger side and i will be happy.
Yeah, I was thinking I was going to have to buy door switches, nope, just exchange the bulb.
Thanks, man. I shall be doing the alt. wire piggyback/bypass tomorrow as well as poking around in the dash for the radio wire. Oh, yeah, and trying to figure out why the bed light doesn't work. Should take TOO long.

Well, tested the bedlight sockets, doesn't seem like there's any juice there. Oh, well, something for another day.
I made up a alt. wire and first ran it to the starter relay, no go, truck didn't start. Ran it to the battery, BAM!, truck started.
Alright, cool, time to mess with the radio.
No dice. The wire I thought was for the radio was, and it DOES get power. But the radio partially (not really) works and speaker doesn't work from what I can see. That and I nearly burned the damn thing down when a wire that I had stripped decided to ground itself. oops.
I unplugged everything and put it back.

Went and exchanged the light bulbs for the dome on the 76. Still won't work.
Even flipped it around, still only comes on when the headlight switch is turned all the way left.
So I'm still looking at some sort of switch.

i am guessing it is a bit brighter with the proper bulb in there. the only thing left to do is unscrew the door jamb switch and make sure the wire is still connected and what shape the switch is in. could ground the wire to make sure it is still working.
So I went out and pulled the door switches, the passenger side has no wire on it, but it might explain the mystery wire underneath the glove box. The driver side has a wire and it is hot, as when I put it back in it was sparking. lol
I have no idea why the wire for the passenger side is disconnected. So that leaves me with the passenger side wire and a possible ground not behaving. Didn't you have a problem with a ground by the high beam switch on your 81?
Driver side

In other topics, what, in your 'umble opinion, do you think is under this carpet?
