Gears, you probably got 3.21 check'em. lift up the rear axle and count how many times the drive shaft spins per one rev. of the tire, it should be 3.21 times or you may even have 3.55, either way i would put 3.90s in that pup,

i have 88 an ram with 3.21s and am putting the 3.90 in soon it will be like adding 20 ponies

other tan that ther isnt much besides headers and k@n filter , 160 degree t stat, you cant tune you tpi so this will be the limit, if you want more put an edelbrock 650 , so you can go with a cam, aluminum heads heads or mayby even a 360,

i would put the carb on there and performer intake its lighter than you factory intake and holds less heat, get the carb dyno tuned and you will get just as much mileage as your tpi, plus its allitle more reliable and easy to work on, have fun and let me know what you want to do

A hotter ignition would be a good idea if you go with 440's suggestions, plus if the engine is in good shape maybe a little nitrous. Maybe

not a bad idea on the nitrous, as long as it is a tuned wet shot, i am thinkin about nitrous on my 2000 z28, alraedy runs 12.7 with bolt ons, put a 100 shot on her and im sure i'll see high 11s and stil be streetable

no carb for me i have all the stuff to do it if i wanted but i hate the troubles of carbs. i blame that on my age 20. but i all ready have the steeper gears but its an open diff. i know because i still have the window sticker and stuff. my engine is in top shape doesent use a drop of crap and is fairly leak free for 150k i've so far added accel wires and coil and plugs. i've ran and open element filter and found my mpg and power dropped when compared to factory and i have a 2.5" glass pack single exhaust and bumped timing 2 degrees. i would like to keep my fuel injection. but could i use say a factory four barrel intake with the 2 barrel addaptor on it to use my tbi as it looks like the same bolt pattern. i'm trying to keep it very reliable and jus a little more power. thanks for the help and suggestions.

Open element air filter dropped mpg and power? Thats strange. Try a shaker hood. They look cool and get cold air. Headers would be a good idea, longtube preferably, but they're not as easy to find and not as cheap as shortys. If you're really serious, go with forced injection, even a small supercharger will definately light up the tires.

Shaker hood? If anyone finds one of these for a first gen ram, let me know. All I can find are cowl induction and R/T styles.
