i am interested in seeing if anyone here races there 1st gen at the track and what kind of set up they have

 

I have a friend with a late 80's-early 90's cummins 4x4 and he runs 13.7's.

 

I do, my 88 ram has seen a 19.3 with the stock 318 on 33inch bfg

since 05 i did a 440 motor swap and ran a 16.1 @ 82 with a 2.27 60' this may seem to be a bad time for a 440 but keep in mind this is a internally stock 78 440 out of a truck with 8.2 compression ratio, around 425 lift cam(stock) and 3.21 gears with a 31 inch tire, now when i get around to putting in a voodoo cam, some 3.55 or 3.90, and some aluminum heads with a 75cc chamber over my 88cc chamber, this should bump compression to 9.2 and with a better profile cam and gears i should run a much better time

i don't like making guesses but im HOPING for around 2.2 seconds off my time, i just want to hit the high 13 mark Oh yeah it is a 4600lbs 4x4

im surprised how much more the 4x4 weighs i last weighed mine at 3750 with misc spare parts removed smog equip spare tire etc..last time i ran my truck i ran a 15 second 1/4 dont have the slip no more but when i finish it this time it should be into the high 13's low 12's with nitrous.
old power plant was a mild 318 now im building a 408 stroker with magnum rt heads thatll be fuel injected its another 2 years away motor wise and probably 3 years away from the truck being completed open difs suck and the tires i have on it arent has wide has i like that and the 1 year waiting list on my fiberglass front end doesnt help either.trucks front and rear weight were 60/40 so fiberglass may bring it 55/45

I USED TO RUN MY 85 AT THE TRACK BEFORE I SOLD IT. IT WAS A 72 440/727 WITH A PERFORMER RPM INTAKE, MOPAR PURPLE SHAFT 284/484(WHICH WAS REALLY TOO MUCH CAM) AND HEADMAN 13/4 PRIMARY HEADDERS WITH A 3.55 SURE-GRIP 8 3/4 ADN WENT 12.74 @ 107 WITH SOME SUSPENSION/DRIVER TWEAKING ....WHEN I FIRST GOT IT WITH THE 318 IN IT IT WENT 17.00 FLAT ALL DAY LONG WITH JUST DUELS AND A 500 CFM HOLLEY 2 ON A 4 BARREL INTAKE ( I WAS YOUNG AND BROKE) JUST SWAPING TO THE STOCK 440 AND THE 8 3/4 REAR BEFORE THE CAM AND ALL IT WENT 14.90'S. I PICKED UP OVER 2 SECONDS JUST THAT EASY

 

I plan to run my 93 CTD in the next couple months aginst some 3rd gen CTDS!!!!

at stop lights, I take them by a mile. its when they finally roll enough to gain momentum do they run me over.

they average low 15's in the quarter.
