Usually the quickest and easiest way to lower the rear is with lowering blocks and new u-bolts. If the axle is currently on top of the leaf springs then you just put a block between them and you are lower. Most parts stores have them as well as eBay.

i have an 89 d100 soon to be what i would call a street rod. it looks like a farm truck with the back sittin up high. the springs are on top of the axle. the only problem is i would have to reweld spring mounts on the under side of the axle so that the spring would be under, but then that gets in to geometry stuff like pinion angle and i dont want to do all that.

Very long thread on lowering here; http://ramchargercentral.com/boards/...hp?topic=260.0 In the rear, you can use longer rear spring shackles (which can cause problems on hard cornering), straight instead of arched springs (4X4 front springs), or moving the springs to the bottom of the axle, which also involves C-notching the frame for clearance.
