Default Drop Springs

I've got an '84 150 with a 440. Read a few posts about 2" drop springs for the front. Any problems hitting the bump stops? What about geometry/alignment? Any bumpsteer etc? Don't want to jar my guts out on every dip in the road. Have given the 2" Dakota spindle swap some thought. Considered swapping in the rack too,to solve the geometry problems, but the oil pump is in the way of the input shaft, not to mention rerouting current 1 7/8" underbody header tubes, or fabbing fenderwell headers again. I am swapping in anA body 8 3/4 to tuck 30/13.5 E.T. Streets, but need to set the front ride height first, before relocating the rear springs, gas tank etc. Any ideas or info would be much appreciated.

I'm also planning to lower my '81. It looks like we can remove the bumpstops fairly easy. I'm toying with several options, from the drop springs, to Dakota spindles, to air bags, to 1 ton lower control arms, to coilovers like the racers use, to building a complete tubular frame and race suspension.
The springs seem to be the least expensive, so thats probably where I'll start. If I want a little more, I'll use the 1 ton lower arms. At least for now.
Lots of info here; http://ramchargercentral.com/boards/...hp?topic=260.0

Yeah me too. I'm not too impressed with the control arm angle caused by springs etc. Also have to wonder about binding the ball joints after a certain amount of drop. Seems to methe Dakota spindles and rackwould be the mostsanitary way. I'm gonna do some more coffee drinkin' and studyin' and see if I can getbetween the oil pump and motor mounton my big block. May have to pull the motor and make a relief in the crossmember for the steering shaft, laying the input shaft back a little, rework the mount, and go back to fenderwell headers. The motor mount is pretty close behind the oil pump though. I don'tthink this relief would be neccessary with a small block. Anybody else kicked this idea around? Would make a nice driving truck, but kind of a pain in the butt, at least with a big block.

I don't think we can drop them enough to bind the lower BJ's, not sure about the uppers. Actually the lower BJ angle wouldn't even change very much.
I agree the Dak spindles and rack would look best.
I had to do the crossmember mod to my racer, it's not hard, and with a little finish work and paint it even looks good.
Heck, with enough Borgesons, you can run the shaft anywhere you need to.

After a pot'na half, looks like I might be able to notch the frame just forward of the # 3 header tube an inch or so deep, and then reinforce it.Then put a carrier brg just forward of the mtr mnt.between the rack and middle joint. Would take 3 joints to get it there, although the angles might be too severe. This is all tape measure figgerin' so far.Gonna go pick up a crashed '90 Dakota for the rack, as I need the motor and trans for my worn out '90 Dak anyhow. Will have to get a little deeper into it after I get the rack. What's a good place to get the dropped spindles? 'Nuther question. Will the 150 rotorsand brakesfit the Dak spindles, or gotta use Dak parts?

I guess you could get them anywhere that sells that type of thing. In that link in my earlier post theres a guy who did it and tells all you need to know, I think it's one of the last two or three pages. I think he used his Ram hubs.

Been a few pages added since I read it last. Dakota spindles and rack it is then. Everything else bottoms and bangs from what I've read. 2" is all I want to lower the nose anyhow. Thanks Racer.
