Default 4wd trouble (bouncing)

i was driving from my buddys house just a couple mins ago and the roads are bad so i put the truck in 4wd, everything was going fine but than the road started to clear up so i started to go a little faster and than the truck started to bounce in 4wd, and it took a wile for it to kick out of 4wd. does anyone know what my problem could be?

Thanks
-Russ

Thats the reason you're not supposed to use 4WD on good roads.
Did you shift out and it didn't disengage? You need to coast a little to let it release.
Do you have automatic hubs? Sometimes one hub will stick.

I still had it in 4wd because the roads were not the best. It is automatic locking hubs. And i did let it coast i was going down a hill i put it in nuetral and coasted. So what do you think it could be? ive never had this problem with any other trucks

I think one or both of the hubs didn't disengage. I can't remember if you maybe had to back up 10 feet to disengage those or if coasting does it.

what do you think would make the truck start jumping with the 4wd totally ingaged. do you think a diff fluidchange and transfer case fluid change would help? im not to sure about what everything could be i just got the truck a few weeks ago and just got it inspected on tuesday.

Your tires are not exactly the same size, and each time you turn they have to cover different distances. Thats why in 4WD on a nice dry pavement, they start hopping. They are trying to even themselves out.
Sometimes the hubs get a little sticky, and don't want to release. So that can also cause a hop. A lot of people toss the auto hubs and go to manuals. They just leave them in during bad weather, so 4X4 is instantly ready.
Changing fluids won't hurt, but it won't fix it either.
