Radio Help
Ok, i am on my last whim and i am seriously thinking about taking this thing to a audio guy. The radio, i have found the colors that got to the rear speakers, so i am going to just get a box and use those. What wires provide the radio with power, ground, and ignition. I have one large light purple wire that is bigger than any of the others. I m thinking this is power. Could you guys offer any insight? Anyone know where there are is a diagram of this? I checked haynes and chiltons (1992-1997 truck, van) and neither say anything about the radio. Any suggestions?

RE: Radio Help
Well, some idiot thought it be night on Thanksgiving to try and steal the radio out of my truck and my neighbors. But e heard my neighbors 9mm fire past his *** and he dropped everything. But i don't think anyone used the plug to begin with when they put the radio in. The radio is a Durabrnd CD player/radio. Now there is a plug in he back of the radio with wires coming from it, the dash has just wires comingfrom it too, no plugs, so someone screwed up whenthey put it in to begin with. So the ones you lsited in post are the ones that should come from the dash, right? Becaus the purple listed as right front + is alot bigger than the rest of them. I also see you didn't list a batery negative (ground), the radio lista wire for that.
Coming out the radio plugs is:
Red ignition 12v+
Yellow battery 12v+
Black Chassis ground
Dark Blue remote turn-on
Gray- fr+
Gray/black- fr-
White- lf+
White/black-lf-
Violet- rr+
Violet/black- rr-
Green- lr+
Green/blacklr-
The chassis ground should just mount topiece of grounded metal, right? If so can i use a dash brace for it?
I am thinking of forgetting about the front speakers and just buyingone of those premade boxes and speakers from Wal-Mart for about 15 bucks.
Thank you all a bunch, without you guys i was looking at about 100 bucks labor only!!!!!!

RE: Radio Help
You can ground the radio to most any metal in the truck. If you have a test light you can test your ground, put the alligator clip from the test light on the metal that you plan on grounding the stereo to then probe the test light into the 12 volt source if the light lights up then you have found a good ground.
