'85 drive line clunk
What rear ends in it? How much slack's in it? 4x4s have alot of components to get the slack out of anyhow. How fast is your idle speed? Much over 650 will aggravate any slack. Also over time the accumulator spring and seals/bore can wear in the trans causing the low/reverse band to apply harshly.
Also check to make sure the kickdown linkage is returning to rest at idle. Controls hyd. pressure in the trans. Should have a spring on the linkage to keep it in contact with the pin on the carb.
Good lookin' truck BTW.

My 1992 W150 clunks too, I just noticed after getting the exhaust fixed, I replaced most of the u-joints this summer and everything else seemed fine. I guess I'll stop worrying about it now!

In addition to the previous posters suggestions, inspect the main drive shaft front slip yoke. Splines should fit relatively snug, have free sliding movement and be greased up good.
I had an 87 Power Ram and an 88 Ramcharger 4x4 for many years and they both had the "factory" clunk when shifting gears. Not severe but normal from what the Chrysler techs told me. Just servicing it (pulling it apart, cleaning out the old grease, repacking) every other oil change or so made it barely noticeable. I eventually added a grease fitting on the yoke so I was able to juice it up at regular oil change time intervals.
