howdy!
So i replaced the carb mounting gasket. replaced all my smaller vaum lines. Found my egr vacum pump was wired backwards, fixed that. Fixed and exhaust leak. NOw the truck idles real nice. Still misses a little buit ever so slightly. Maybe I should time it? Or change cap/coil/wires? Already put new plugs in. What do you guys think I should do next?

Thanks,
dib

Go a head and changes those cap/coil/wires. I put a accel ing. system in mine and it runs better.

What is an EGR vacuum pump? If you wire it backerds does it make pressure instead of vacuum?

the EGR (Engine Gunk Remover) is just a vacuum to clean out the engine bay. So like if you get leaves and oil and stuff in the motor compartment they can be sucked into the carb or the pulleys, which is what was happening to mohadib here. It was on blow instead of suck. All he had to do was switch it the EGR to vacuum and he sucked all that gunk up

When i get a little $$ (soon) I'll replace coil/wires/cap. I'll let you guys know how it goes. I really want this engine to run well. Before I go any further should I compression test it? To make sure I'm not polishing a terd? I'm pretty new to autowork if you havent noticed

Thanks,
dib

I've owned enough junk to know you can't polish a turd, but you can dern sure paint one lol. A comp. test ain't a bad idea. All cyls should be within 15 psi of each other, a little wider variation means you have some wear.
