Default Looking for side mirror fix

While I'm waiting for my new injectors to show, I thought I might tackle a problem I've had for a while. Anyone know how to fix side mirrors that won't stay in place any more? Mine are in super shape, but the force from the wind when driving makes them turn in toward the doors over time. I once saw an article in a 4X4 magazine that listed known problems and simple fixes for different makes of vehicles each month, when it came to the Dodge they mentioned this problem and said it could be fixed with a piece of shower curtain rod, but didn't go into detail on what to do with the rod. Any more ideas? I have the same style mirror as Moparborn has on his truck.
The only thing I've tried so far is little black loc-tite around the black bushing that the mirror swivels in. This works great but only for a short time.

I had the same problem with my 90. I took the mirror apart and found it is a friction fit which holds them in place. There is a plastic sleeve on the tube of the mirror. I cut this tube long ways and put a layer of duct tape on the outside of it. I then reassembled it and have not had a problem again. If you have any questions let me know.

I have the same issue as 75cj5 with the mirrors moving in while I'm driving. There is a torx or hex head bolt on the bottom of the mirror fixture, but it's stripped. Does anyone have the specifics on how to correct this?

It is a Torx bit to remove the cover. If it is stripped you will have a hard time getting it out. Not sure how I would go at that one. You could try to drill out and use an easy out but it may be to small. Some time I have used a dremal too to cut a slot into a screw and use a regular screwdriver. Don't think you could do that without damaging the plastic cover. May have to cut off the plastic cover and get replacements. Good Luck.

I to have the same issue with these mirrors.

Has anyone removed these mirrors and replaced them with aftermarker? If so how difficult are they to remove? I'd like to replace the stock bulky mirrors with something like this http://www.summitracing.com/parts/GM...L/?image=large

I had the same stock mirrors(but with no problems),but I wanted something smaller too.
I put a set off mirrors on similar to the ones that HeliDeiter is showing.
They are a lot smaller than stock and take getting used to.
Removing the stock setup is not bad exept for the inner bracket,it is rivited, bolted and glued in place.
I will have to get pics to show how they look.
