i have a 86 d150 with power windows.they dont work.the pass switch has been replaced at sometime.the main switch works the drivers window to about 4 inches and then stops.it sometimes takes a few tries to work.sometimes the window will fall into the door.i have looked into the doors and on the drivers door i have a big plug that is not hooked up(at top of door at the back).i plugged it in and a fuse blew, cant remember what it was.what do you guys think?where is the motor at for p.w.is that what i hit-tap with a hammer.the doors do leak so can that be 1 problem.thanks

You have a short someplace. Unplug the connector at the switches and at the motors in both doors. Now replace the fuse. If it doesn't blow immediately plug in the drivers switch and operate the switch to see if the fuse blows. If so the problem is in the drivers switch or its wiring. If not plug in the passengers switch and operate both switches to see if the fuse blows. If not plug in one motor at a time and check the fuse. This approach will allow you to isolate the problem.

So yah I didn't want to post a new thread about this. But im having pretty much the same problem! I let a friend borrow my truck to move some furniture and when I got it back the next day my passanger side window wouldn't go up or down. No noise no anything! I took off the door panel and the connection looked fine, unplugged and reconnected. drivers side sticks a little maybe yall can help with that too?

What is the deal when you can hear the window motor running but the window dosen't move? Could that be the gear that is attached to the window motor?
