Default Edelbrock 3526 EFI

I didn't know they made these! Seems to me like this would solve all the problems with hot-rodding, lack of power, emmisions, fuel injection, etc. Anyone had any experience with anything like this? Thoughts?

hmmm. it really is neat. Such an easy jump in power/convenience. but i could do a lot with $2700.

Now I am confused. This system is for use in 1991 and earlier engines that are not emission controlled. What engine in 1989 thru 1991 and some earlier was not emission controlled?

That probably means an engine modified so that it doesn't meet emission standards. In other words, for off road use only or an real old vehicle.

Charlie
Why would you limit it to 1991 and earlier if you are going to include off road modified engines? In other words why not just say it was for off road modified engines of this size?

It's not for off-road only, because there are other models specifically for that, that do specify "off-road only". Also, I think they are simply suggesting that it would/could replace a carb, non-EFI set up based on the fact that most pre-1991 models run a carb (89-91 excluded obviously). If you already have EFI why couldn't you use this? You can set it to pass emissions, that's one of the benefits of electronic fuel injection. Sorry if I'm just stating the obvious.

Granted $2800+ is a lot of cash, what would you spend that on instead to get the same bang for your buck (or more)?

The fact that it is great for replacing a carb, non-EFI set up is not in dispute and is not the source of the confusion. You could presumably use this on an EFI engine. The problem is they have included years (89-91) where there were no engines of the mentioned size that were not emission controlled. Who ever wrote that blurb was simply not thinking.

Is 91 or 2 the year they came out with the kegger manifold with the bolts at a different angle?
Or switched from throttle body to port injection?
In other words I guess I don't really know.

I know 91 is the same as 90 & 89. Don"t know about 92.
