when you changed batteries, was there another, seperate wire running off eihter the + or - terminals? Or was there one or more running from a splice in the main + cable?
I've never seen this in a dodge, but my pal had a nissan he would listn to the radio hours on end while working in the yard. the switch on the column burned out one day. It was an older nissan, so we just wired everything up with toggle switches and momentary contact buttons, and only used the key to unlock the steering wheel, and to keep the cops from asking questions.
That was why I asked about seperate wires, may have had a home-rig wire job done on it before, well enough you couldn't tell, but poorly enough that, well, you couldn't tell when you replaced things.
