did you check your fuses? mabe there is a bad connection in the soccet. i had problems getting my lic plate light working when i replaced the bulbs. i had to break the old light bulbs to get them out. i think you can get a ticket if they don't work but you will more than likely only get a warning. it is such a small thing that most cops wont even bother or notice.

on the lic plate light 1 worked.i messed with it 1 time and could not get them out so i stopped, until the other day.now both sides dont work and yes the 1 i had to bend the brass part to get out, socket is fine.the book calls for 2 kinds of bulbs and have used both.they seem loose though.i need to get it fix so i can get a inspection.yes the fuse works if i remember it has other things on it also(fuse).

There is a spring inside the socket that can rust and brake and then the contact is not pushed out against the bulb contact. Push the wire from behind toward the bulb and get that spring free. If the spring is broken replacement sockets are available and cheap. If the inside of the socket is badly rusted the bulb will not ground to the socket properly. Make sure the socket itself is grounded to the bumper and that you have a good ground from the bumper to the frame.

if the light bulbs in the lic plate sockets are loose it might prevent them from making a good connection. you could use some plyers and scwish the the socket a bit till the light bulb fits snug. you should also test the sockets for power with a multimeter.

Most states require all lights that are on the vehicle to work as well as having a minimum so you can probably get by with one lic light if you remove the other. I have found that a bad ground or rust is often the fault when working on older lights and it is often easier just replace the lic plate lights if there isn't something obvious. If you try to clean and squeeze the socket or stretch the spring you have a good chance of having an intermittent light which will catch the eye of law officers.
