1984 dodge power ram 350 power??????
Bougth a complete 1 ton 4 wheel drive 4 spd truck from a junkyard for 1000 bucks.... ah ha ha ha ! i love it.
no it doesnt run, but it's all in one piece... why doesnt it run? well, this junkyard has to junk everything they dont sell. its a pick a park place... i found the truck and jumped on it before anyone got the chance to start gutting it. my plan is to take the motor, trans, transfer case, axles, suspension and even some linkages and throw all of it underneath and into my 1999 dodge ram 1500 2wd truck that currently has no motor, trans, axles, or suspension... yeah, i know. .lots of fun...
anyhow, my question is this. what power could this motor it has from the factory, all original, produce? the motor is a LA 318 smallblock with factory 4 barrel carb and intake, with stock everything... any takers???

i never asked about power to rear wheels. max estimate is always at the crank, that's what my question was supposed to imply. couldn't u see that? to me it was obvious... in any case 150 at the wheelys aint too shabby. those fuel injected versions can be real turds if ya know what i mean. Im hoping to see the carbureted version doin me some justice with some tuning...
o ****, my good friend from childhood who i was thinking about last night died when i was in 9th grade. funny that some dude would reply in his name from this crazy place. I see that as a good sign 7 sign. god bless ya aaron, halleluyah, praise the lord, and thanks jesus. wish all of yall nothin but the best. god bless.
From my research the mid-80's 318's were rated around 140-150 crank horsepower depending on carb setup. Not even the Magnum 318's were making 275hp.

Yep. Most modern manual transmission drivelines are only about 88-90% effecient, and automatics are closer to 85% effecient. I would surmise that older auto's are worse. I know a GM TH400 is closer to 80-82% effecient. They suck up a ton of power.
Dislcaimer: Most of my automotive time is spent with 4th gen GM F-bodies.

what do you need hp for when you have torque. my dads use to have a 1 ton dodge with a 360 that could spin its tire at every set of lights. the truck would even race up hills with no second gear. it was a really powerful truck for something that had over 500,000km on it.
