Default 90 runnin rich

i just bought a 90 dodge half ton. it has a 318 and its runnin rich. how can i fix this. it has the tbi, i noticed that it has a couple wire clusters runnin into it, would theyre be a controller somewhere? or is it just a O2 sensor problem? any help is greatly appreciated, thank you!

could be an o2 problem. you might want to try unpluging the o2 sensor and reseting the computer. with the o2 sensor being unplugged it should use the default fuel to air ratio.

How do I reset the computer? Just disconnect the battery??

ya just disconnect the battery and try turning on the lights , then reconnect the battery.

okay thank you!! i'll give it a try and see if it works. my mait. req. light has been on too, maybe it'll take care of that!!

well that turned the check engine light on and thats about it. still runnin rich. i'm lost!

If you have a check engine light pull the codes.

the check engine light went off when i plugged the O2 sensor back in. it does have a "maitnance required" light on though. what could be throwing that?

The maintenance required light comes on after a certain number of miles. You can pull the bulb or wait for it to burn out or go to the dealer and pay $75.00 to have them turn it off with a special tool. I removed the bulb. This light does not have anything to do with any problem with the truck and is only a mileage reminder. If you choose the dealer this light will come on again in a certain number of miles so it is a never ending drain on your wallet.
