Default TB to carb

I have a 1990 w150 318 with TB and want to convert to carb. What are all the things I need to do? Fuel pressure, Gauges, ect. Also, would going to a carb get me better gas mileage.

Never having done this here are a few off the top of my head. Carb, intake manifold, distributer/ignition system, wiring harness, fuel pressure regulator or mechanical fuel pump, a different EGR system, modified ASD, new torque converter if you have a lock up type. Oh and did I mention cops/inspectors that don't care.

i converted mine over from tb to 4v carb.. it was an easy swap, but i had a parts truck so i had everything.. here's a list

1. intake and carb
2. underhood harness
3. distributer
4. alternater and brakets
5. gas pedal and throttle cable
6. kick down rod
7. all the ignition stuff
8. machanicle pump swap
9. in-tank sending unit
10. feul lines

it seems like alott but it is easy going when you have all the arts and it's a huge gain in power.. plus i picked up about 2mpg's over the tb...

as far as emissions stuff, either tear it all off and get your inspection stickers with a "wink and a nod" or hook up all 87-back stuff...

i want to do the same thing to my truck, unfortunately i have overdrive that is engaged through the computer, so i think im just gonna do a cam swap. i was talked to one of the more experienced geuss at my shop and they said with a cam alone you could see 4mpg more, they also said that a carb and intake could get u 2 mpg more on top of the cam.

What cam is it? Is it computer compatable and how much does it cost? What kind of gains would you expect. Are there any cons to putting it on?

The cams for these engines are expensive. Stock they're almost 400 bucks, after market cams push 900. They are roller cams so you have the hydraulic roller lifters as well.

not sure where you buy your cams from lol..
looked on summitracing.com, 98 different cams for the 318 LA engine, talked to that mopar wizard at my work again and he said for
towing/power go with the lunati ( 5,600)http://www.summitracing.com/parts/LUN-90360LK/
a new timing chain would do benefit aswell

You did say you have a 1990 with the Throttle Body Injection, right? Now all these engines are LA blocks, but the TBI engines have the roller cams in them, and as of last week NAPA wanted 380 bucks for the replacement cam and lifters for this engine.

I guess maybe you could put a regular cam and lifters in if your going to a carb, this I'm not sure of. Hope I didn't confuse you.

I think I am going to stay with the TB and just add a cam to it and high performance parts. I like the price on that cam you posted, what is the gain? Is there any downfalls compared to the stock one? Is there a better one out there with more power? What about any other mods that will increase mpg's or power?
