i had a old guy at a car show tell me i should paint my 81 flat black.

Thanks. Its only got one coat on in the pictures, and its still really splotchy. Some sanding, and two more coats should do it.

I also had a handful of people tell me to paint mine flat black. I think the problem in my head is that of all the flat black paintjobs I've seen, they've been either really good or really bad. I was thinking mine would likely end up more towards bad. Now if I had a pre-1980 truck, I'd paint that big round grille and the bumpers white in a heartbeat, and paint the rest flat black with no questions asked.

i have just never thought flat black looked right on a long box truck. seems to look great on a short box tho . i figure if i am going to paint my truck i will do it right with the color i like and the color just happen to be the one that is on it already.
