Lightbulb Paint Suggestions

Hey guys. I just redid the wheel arches on the bed of my truck, and took out the rust on the doors as well. The previous owner used regular bondo for the arches, and I used the hairy crap underneath regular bondo, so it should last even longer. It has the factory shape very well now, and just needs some final sanding, and I have a few more dents to fill.

Anyway, my truck is currently about half in the original diamond blue metallic, and half in gray primer. I would like to paint the whole thing. I have a few options here. I could borrow my grandfather's cheap spraygun, and try to get it to work out ok. I'm also interested in trying a rustoleum enamel with a roller, and lots of wet sanding. I've seen pictures online of it, and it looks great, but I've never seen this in person. I like this idea because its easy, and cheap, and doesn't require primer. And of course I could always just go rattle can black.

The style I'm going for is the same as the 1996 Indy Ram. But. I'm tempted to use petty blue, and black stripes instead. I really am open to all color options. Speak to me. Tell me what NOT to do, or what you think I should do.

Problem solved. I'm borrowing the spray gun. I already bought a gallon of plum crazy, and a quart of black. Its gonna be plum, with racing stripes in black.

That should work. If I had interior that wasn't burgundy I'd go with sublime on mine.

Yeah, my interior will still be blue. I don't know how I'm feeling about that. It won't stop me from painting the exterior, but it sure will be an odd combo.

Talking

Its finally done. There is a little bit of orange peel here and there. Now I just have to let it cure so I can wax it and really have it shining. Here are before, during, and after pictures.

You are not suppose to wax it after it has been painted. The paint will need time to cure so to say. Check out www.autobody101.com

Way ahead of you. This paint is probably going to get a solid week and a half before I do much more than wipe it off with a soft, dry coth.

I wouldn't rub it dry.
Use cold running water to clean it.

You painted the hood ornament? What is the matter with you?
