I will check out the EGR and see if that is the problem. Thanks for that input.

I finally got a chance to work on this truck again. I checked the egr by running the engine and increasing the rpm fromm idle to 2000. The shaft in the egr moved up as it is supposed to, I plan to do the vacuum test to see if it causes a stall as the book says it should, it could be plugged up in the passages. I will post what i find as soon as I get it checked. Thanks for the info.
