Default How many of us have front sway bars?

I do. But the driver side link broke, so until I find a link, I effectively dont. I've heard on some other forums that only certain years, or only the w series, or d series in certain years, or red trucks with white vinyl stripes and black interiors . . . blah blah blah.

Sounds like only some of us have them. Do you?

****EDIT**** the poll should say sway bar, not track bar ****EDIT****

Thumbs up Yes

Hey I just bought a sway bar for my '91 D150 2WD at a salvage yard recently but couldn't find a good set of "matching" links. There were quite a few 1st gen. trucks with sway bars out there but almost all the links were damaged on the end of the threads- bent or broken since they hang down so far. I ended up buying some NEW bushings and the hard to find links. I went to www.makeitdodgeparts.com and bought each link for $8.56. All other places had them for $30-$60 a piece!

Since you asked, I put a sway bar on a '78 D150 2WD that I previously had.

I bought a link and bushing kit from advanced auto for $17. It should be here the 23rd. For now, I drilled a hole in the old link, put a bolt through it, and rigged up a set up washers, rubber, and bolts. Should get me past inspection tomorrow at least. lol

My '92 has the sway bar. I got mine from a dealer where my sister worked. She said that the man who traded it in was in his 90's and that he had bought it there new in '92. I'm pretty sure the bar was factory equipment. btw 3.9L v6, blue paint if it matters.

Not sure actually. I don't think so but I'll check. Planning on doing Addco bars on the front and rear soon anyways.

Well, I can tell you guys for sure, from going to having, to not having, to having a working sway bar again . . . you want a front sway bar. The few days I drove without it was like driving a boat in comparison. Keeping the big truck flat in the twisty back roads of western PA makes a huge difference in handling, and you stay in the seat a lot better.

I can tell you that makes a noticable difference as well.

Nope. I do not have a rear sway bar. I would consider one if I knew it would be stiffer than my suspension already is. Being a 3/4 ton, it takes about 800lbs to get any noticeable compression out of my rear suspension. It seems like with a load of about 600-1000lbs on the back, I would greatly benefit from a rear sway bar. But empty, it feels a bit like somebody replaced my leaf springs with I-beams.

I removed mine, from my w250. But I also spend ALOT of time off-road and plowing snow. I added two plies, to my leaf-packs. It's plenty stiff as it is.
