Default aftermarket valve covers

I am trying to swap the valve covers on my 1987 w100 318, but the stock height replacements from summit don't come close to clearing the brake booster. I confirmed the part numbers with summit tech support, and he said they were the right model, but he wasn't sure why there would be a clearance issue. Anyone else run into this, or successfully swapped a set? If so can I get the brand and model. Thanks. Everyone has been very helpful on previous posts, great resource.

A little more info please.Did it have valve covers on it before? Are the replacements taller? What part no. are they?

Don't have a broken motor mount? Maybe the booster was changed?

Just throwin out somethings to check into.

The originals are on it and they are much lower and smaller overall. The new are summit part number dcc-5007611ab. No idea if the booster is original.

i put the same covers on my truck, you will have to grind the fins were it makes contact with the booster, it takes some time wiggling them in....... make sure you use some good rubber/synthetic gaskets... i used cork and they suck, blows oil a little bit.... make sure to get some crank case ventilation too, buy a good oil breather

Probably too late to help you but the trucks with big block engines had a booster that was smaller in diameter if I ain't mistaken.

you probably don't need to cu so much that it needs to be welded, i got mine to fit with some simple die grinding of the fins

We had to use a smaller booster (actually from a late 80's Dodge Daytona, bolted right in!) to fit my 440. You could always get one of those.
