Radiator could be stopped up.Thermostat could be stuck closed.A radiator hose could be sucked closed. And the fan clutch could be inop not drawing enough air.
The Thermal clutch will basiclly freewheel when the water pump snout gets to a certian temp, this is what is normally installed from the Factory. But before I would go out and buy this stuff,I would check with one of the local Radiator Shops and see what they charge for checking the radiator core to see if it is stopped up.
maybe the new one is sticking or defective. the easiest way to tell is feel the top rad hose when the gauge is reading hot. if it is cool i would say you have a bad thermostat.
it is the fail proof thermostat, ya never know though
the more ideas i get tonight, the more information i'll have for ya'll tomorrow night. i know the radiator was in bad shape. i flushed it in early spring 2010 and again the other day but it probably needs serviced at a shop
