You will definitely need some Dynamat to control the vibration of those big sheets of flat metal in the truck. Electrically and physically no problem as long as you run the engine while listening to the music.

I've got a single 12" behind the seat... doesn't rattle too bad.

Picked up four 8" JL Audio subs for it. Going to do a short wall behind the seat... just need to buy an amp for them all haha

i have a single 10" behind the seat of my truck without an amp and it sounds pretty good with the delco stereo but it sound even better with an after market stereo. i would definitely say you might want some capacitors. the lights on my stereo start to dim with the stereo up. my truck rattled a bit but the hole in my box is on the back.

Wait, you have a sub running without an amp...? lol

And capacitors are a bandaid. Total waste of money and this has been proven many, many times. The only thing they do is compensate for a weak charging system.

Find out WHY your lights are dimming; don't patch it. Be sure to do the 'big three' upgrade. Make sure your battery is good. Make sure your alternator is working properly, etc.

thanks for the advice just got it all hooked up last night and the hardest part id say was hiding the wires, but i just ran them under the carpet, now i just need to find a shallow box for my 10's im running 1 on the floor of the passenger side for now, oh crazzywolfie btw i was reading over a post you put when you installed your delco and wondering if a new stereo would fit, well they do with a face plate adapter from wal-mart for 12 bucks just got the standard one for dodge and had to break off a few mounting points and it fits and looks great cant wait to find all my rattles

i have seen the adapter kits at walmart but i was cheap. i had the delco and i got the sliding glass window and i'm kind of worried that if i get a nice stereo that someone will smash my back window attempting to steal it.

lol. ya a sub with no amp. it puts out better bass than the speakers do. the lights on the stereo dim because the speakers and the sub are pulling that much power. capacitors don't compensate for a weak charging system. they are used so your lights and stuff don't dim when you have the bass up high.

Please don't post things if you don't know what you're talking about. I super respect you as you have TONS of knowledge of these trucks and vehicles in general but it seems car audio isn't your specialty.

I've been doing car audio installs for 12 years now; 6 professionally.

Your lights dim because you either have bad ground(s) or a failing/weak charging system.

Make sure to upgrade all the ground wires to a good six or eight gauge wire. Do the same for all the alternator/battery wires too... anywhere there's tiny wire for power or ground upgrade it!

I've had so many customers SWEAR they need to spend $100 on a capacitor. After a little rewiring they have no more dimming lights and plenty of bass!

the stereo in my truck has a good ground. i just tested it with the truck running and the lights don't dim like they do with the truck off. most of the time when i'm listening to the stereo i have my truck off and the stereo lights dim but the truck still has the power to fires up.
