Your voltage regulator should be electronic, so my question is; What is inside an electronic voltage regulator that can click?

ok so it might not be the regulator but its on the passenger side in the engine there's two of them mounted one above the other some air lines and electric wires coming off it and what ever it is don't mess with it when the trucks running shocked the crap outta friend of mine i'll try and get some pics, but ok back the the original subject of the thread i got a nice new oil pressure gauge and some adapters now i want to know exactly what does the sensor look like on my engine i found something way in back under my distributor cap and it looks like it has a sensor and something else coming off a y from the engine. is this it? and if so do i have to remove the whole assembly or can i tie into the y? i really don't feel like removing the hood but it would help any advise on hood removal and problems is helpful also thanks all

one side screws into the fitting on the engine and the wire goes on the smaller side

sorry lol not that piece the other piece thats screwed into the y,
but anyway here are the results so far at idle it varies from around 15psi to 25 psi, while running initially it climbs to around 50psi and after speed is reached it sits around 37.5 and when climbing hills and steep streets drops back down to 25- 37.5. so not to sure what to make of it, it seems a little low to me but it still mostly falls in the 30- 70 psi range

I don't know what might be in your truck but it doesn't sound like what is in mine. I don't have a Y. I think you are going to have to post some pictures of some of this stuff. That oil pressure is not great but it is adequate.

Considering our factory gauge is 0-100, I used to have pretty bad oil pressure. 50 on startup, quickly dropping to 15-25, and staying there unless I floored it. Then it would climb to no more than 40. Then, I stopped using the cheap Fram extraguard filters, and switched to mopar. Now Its between 40 and 60 all the time, usually centering around 45. You should look up the videos on youtube of people cutting different filters open. I originally switched because the construction of the Fram filters was so much shoddier. I never really expected this pleasant side effect.

Good point on oilfilters there's some real junk out there now. For that matter it's getting hard to buy parts that aint junk. Fuel fiters that come unglued inside. Points made in China good for almost 50 miles. . . .
Getting back to oil pressure I don't get too hung up on numbers here. If you don't have enuf you'll know. (hope the cell phone works out here type thing)
Oil brands and types changes readings a lot.
But if it starts dropping pull over and check it asap.
