Go to the hardware store and get a low pressure gauge (0-100) and fittings to replace the sending unit so that you know what your actual pressure is. You simply can't trust the idiot gauge in the truck. This requires nothing but basic tools. If you don't know what size fittings just pull the sender and take it with you. My gauge never reads more than two marks from the left and my pressure is great.

the oil pressure sensor should be right beside your distributor

On my 84 vw rabit ragtop the oil pressure was so low the buzzer was going off at low rpms. Went to the parts store got an oil pressure gauge for about 20 bucks. Then about 20 more bucks for a butload of fittings to get it to fit !
Anyway oil pressure was fine.
A lot of times a new sending unit will also fix one of your oil leaks at the same time.

Your normal pressure should be 30-70 PSI at 2000 RPMs. Minimum is 10 PSI. Sender is as wolfie said.

I didn't mean the gauges are worthless. You just have to know what the actual pressure is in reference to your gauge. I have seen resistance measurements for the computer temp sensor but not for the gauge sensor. Read my post at the other thread you started for this question. LOL

ShadowDragon, I can't believe nobody's asked you about the Big Friggin' Hammer.

What the hell's that for... Damn that 's funny!

Good Luck with the truck.

well the hammer is "mostly" for dents. thats my story and im sticking to it but on another subject gonna be pulling the oil pressure sensor and repalcing with a gauge and see what im really runnin, lol and on another note went and cut off the catalytic converter to just get rid of it, we get it off and find theres nothing left inside but a little bit of the honey comb, so we basicly wasted a night cutting the damn thing off for no reason but oh well
