Default Help with making my truck horning

hey,

My horn stop working awhile ago and need help with it. Ive changed the fuse it worked for abit then acouple days ago i was gonna honk and it didnt work. I changed the hork relay and it work for about an hour then it stop working,i also tried other horns to make sure it wasnt my horn, any ideas? Could the horn it self cause these problems? could it be a short somewhere in the wire?

thanks

so what happened when you tried a different horn? did you check the fuse again? could be the horn button that is the problem. did you try just running power straight to your horns?

There's a horn relay in there somewere too. Got a test light? A voltmeters real handy too. And a wire diagram.
I've got two Dodges with no horns only had the 81 a few weeks. The 73 since 1988. Someday maybe if I feel like it I may get around to fixing them.

when i got my 81 the horn was dead and not fixable, the horn relay would stick under load and then i ran into problems with my horn button on the steering wheel after i snug steering wheel down after replacing the turn signal cam but that has all been fixed and i have horns.

The other horn honked, the fuse was fine, didnt try running power to the horn, seening as the horn on the truck and my others worked
Is it a simple job to fix the horn button?

thanks

if the other horn honked then your horn might be dieing or out of tune which could cause it to blow a fuse. do you hear the click from the horn relay when you press the horn button?

I got around to looking at my 81 W250's horn. Step one hot wire to the horn. It works. Then looked at the wires under the hood thay looked good. Then I started looking under the dash what a freaking mess!
It's got a trailer brake added and a new radio. Both put in by an idiot. Wires hanging all over the place.
At that point I decided it was to dam cold to work on the mess.
I've got to find a wiring diagram and wait for a nice day to rewire this mess. I don't want to have a dead short in the middle of nowhere. Been there done that.

if you hear the click the problem is between the relay and the horns. the next thing would be to try is run a power wire strays to the horn. i would guess your horns may be dieing or out of tune which can make it not work or need more power. the horns in my truck sound like they are dieing but have been tuned back to a spot where they work again.

when i get pissed off at my truck i usually hot wire it if the starter will turn(think it might need to be rebuilt).
