Try removing inspection plate cover, check back side for any wear marks, restart with inspection cover off and see if noise goes away, had this problem with my 2nd gen. ram

well just to update everyone on this one it was the starter i replaced it yesterday and now the tinging noise is gone but it still sounds like the starter is staying engaged a little long after she starts
