Unhappy The Big Fish That Got Away...

I, just by chance, happened to be surfing Craigslist and found this a few days ago:

http://sanantonio.craigslist.org/cto/2516301459.html

It was posted on Aug 27th and I saw it on Aug 28th. I couldn't sleep well that night tossing and turning. I had to have it. I called her on Aug 29th and left several messages and she finally called me back about lunch time. I went to pull money out of the bank, made arrangements for a tow truck, made arrangements to take it to my inlaws and lastly made arrangements for a long lunch break to go check it out and make the deal. I got there at 3:30 in the afternoon and it was gone. Man was I depressed, I probably won't sleep again tonight. That was a once in a lifetime deal. Parts alone were worth 4 times that. That was my big fish that got away.

I know there is other stories like this out there! Come on, make me feel better ... please.

Your order of doing things was what cost you. LOL The first thing to do needs to be the last thing you did. You need to go look at it immediately if it is a great deal.

$1,000?!?!? Sweet baby Jesus! You mean ten $100 bills took that truck? Did somebody get stoned and run out of cheetos? Makes me want to sell my piece of crap for $1,000 in PA and head west until I find one like that.

I'm sure lots of us over the years have gotten rid of vehicles for a fraction of what they were worth to make a quick sale. Most probably regret it now, I know I do on a few that at the time seemed like the right thing to do.

There was at least 4-6K in parts sitting there running or not. I talked with this lady and she said that she had brought it with her from Oregon and it died out on her this last winter and couldn't afford to figure it out what was wrong with it (electrical was her opinion). She had 7 kids with her boyfriend and needed the money. I really only just wanted to help ... YEAH RIGHT!!

Aje, as far as that property thing, I know what you mean. I've thought about that over the years too. The only problem I see with that, at least for me, would be what vehicle to work on first. At least with one you can focus all your efforts. I see pics of guys trucks on some property with a bunch of remnants sitting in the background. I'm afraid that would be me. LOL ! A man has got to have a dream though.

Seal, what's the story on that 69 RoadRunner you mentioned before?

Texxan, go up near the top of the page and there is a black bar with a search option. You can find threads on topics that way.

CG, my intent was to drive it too. I just wanted to point out that the sum of parts alone was way over a grand. There was custom bumpers, rollbar, fender flares, 44's on 16" rims, 9" lift, rebuilt trans and a 440 motor. Not to mention that a 79 Power Wagon is worth at least a grand and is very hard to find. Heck, it's 32 years old now!

TeXXan; Take your info to a dealership and they will sell you the correct gear for the speedo. Let them do the math. Info needed, transmission type, D or W, rear gear ratio, and tire size.
