Default Why Did The Engine Stall?

I got stuck in mud today and while trying, although failed to get unstuck, the engine quit 2 or 3 times.

I was revving the engine trying to get unstuck, probably not the best idea but it did work a few days ago.Anyway, when I revved the motor and let it go back to idle,it quit.

The truck is a 93 D150 with the 5.2 and MPEFI and auto trans.

Why did it quit?

I had to get a neighbor to pull me out with hid Dodge truck.

How much mud? Although most dodges are thirsty, its not for water. My truck did almost the same thing a few times, but I was in water/slop so deep i really had no business being there. It just cleared up over a few days. i kept waiting to hear a knock, but nothing ever happened, and the next oil change was fine. Is the truck running now?

I had a '97 Grand Cherokee Orvis with the 318 Mag in it. If the battery cables weren't on perfectly, you could rev it and let go of the throttle quickly and it would die. Never understood why, but that was its problem.

The mud wasnt even up to the bottom of the back rims.

The battery cables are tight.

I dont know why the motor quit,it seems to run fine,it just quit while trying to get out of the mud.

After the nieghbor pulled me out,we went on our way and it did fine.

If you want to play in the mud get a W and a winch instead of a D. LOL I wouldn't worry about it quitting if it only did it the one time.

A bit of water got under the distributor cap, or something like that. It happens to me all the time, as well as getting into a plug wire or something, making it run funny. All part of the fun!

A friend of mine got enough water in his 86 w250 distributor that he had to put a hair dryer to it for a half hour. The simplicity of these trucks is wonderful.

my 93 d150 did the same thing at one time, rev it in park though, when it came back to idle it would stumble real bad, almost wanting to die but didnt.
my problem was excess timing chain slop/backlash. i put a mopar performance double row roller in there, there was a good 1 inch of chain strech @ 127,000mi .it still ran good.
im not saying this is your problem,it could be lots of things. sensor, idle air control valve, temp sensor etc. the list goes on. good luck
