Default 86 w150 Motor Swap

I have a 86 w150 with the 318. I found a 66 383 big block out of a truck for a really good price. I was wounding if my tranny and motor mounts would bolt up.

a big block will not bolt to a small block transmission.

dam thats what i thought but wanted to be sure. So what do I have to do to put a 360 in it. Just motor mounts and a torque convertor from a 360?

pretty much. i think you might also be able to buy a flex plate that is balanced correctly so that you would not have to replace the torque converter.

if you can find the right transmission there should be no reason the engine will not drop right in.

should be. i think other than the bolt pattern on the bell housing of the 727 there is not too much difference between the insides of a small block or big block trans.

I was just confused, in post #3 the OP mentioned swapping in a 360, and you brought up making sure that the trans was right.

K well im thinking about buying this engine (1977 360 Mopar Engine with 76,000 original miles on it.) All I would need to buy is mounts and a flexplate right. (http://www.summitracing.com/parts/BMM-10236/)

I did the swap and it runs but I have a few issues. 1st the motor doesnt idle. I played with the idle and mixture and still couldnt get it to run by itself. When it would "idle" it would jump from 1000 rpm to 2000 rpm.
2nd when It ran it would shake or vibrate the truck pretty bad more at higher rpm. Could this be simply because i didnt put the mounts right?
