converting efi to carbureted
you will need a carb compatible intake. the fuel injected manifold is not carb compatible even with an adapter. the coil that is currently on the truck i think might work fine with the hei setup.
[QUOTE=camd94234;2753728]okay... i was looking on the internet and im thinking i can keep my old intake because i can get a adapter plate because i have a lot of vacuum lines going into my intake.. good idea?[/QUOTE
Besides getting the transmission to shift into overdrive, you are going to have to hook up a voltage regulator for the alternator since the computer has it built in. Also if you have AC you will have to do some re-wiring there as well.
In addition you will need to figure out what your going to do about the electric fuel pump or the fuel delivery in general.
There is allot to think about and take into account when considering swapping to a carb.

yea but thats the reason i want to keep my computer for the tranny to shift right and other components. will that be possible i mean im not worried about my check engine light being on all the time because the injectors wont be plugged in and the distributor wont be plugged in either... is it possible to keep the computer? if not i will jus keep it the way it is.
This is correct...the computer uses the inputs from the TPS and other sensors to do the shifting into OD so without that and the other sensor inputs and readings it will not work.
Just a note. If you really want to be able to spin 38-40 inch tires like you said, don't even look at any 1/2 ton vehicles. The drive trains will not stand up to that kind of abuse. Get a 3/4 heavy or a 1 ton to start with. This will save you money in the long run.
i don't think you should get rid of your truck just because you can't convert it to carb so easily. you can buy a kit that controls the transmission for $85 from the link SEAL provided. in my opinion you should just keep it fuel injected until you can save up enough money to do what you would like to it. till then you should price it all out and find all the parts you need. if i was to guess i could maybe see it costing at least $1000 by the time you have it all said and done.
yea true but i was looking on summitracing and their is a 52mm throttle body their and it is for the 318 or the 360
heres the link: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HLY-112-557/
but i was thinking on going with a 4 barrel throttle body for a little more power

or this one: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/BBK-1716/

i don't think those 4 barrel ones would be worth it unless you get a 4 barrel fuel injected manifold.
that 52mm throttle body might be ok but you could get them cheaper on ebay. this guy use to also offer the aluminum plenum pans.
