Default converting efi to carbureted

ok guys i got my truck running perfect and everything and since i love carburetors i was wondering if i could get a new intake and a holley 670 truck avenger carb. but i still want to keep the old wiring harness and everything else so would it work with the old wiring harness? and would i have a check engine light since my injectors wires will be unplugged and tucked aside

thanks,
cam

I would think the check engine light would be a constant. The computer would not have the input it needs from the TPS or the MAP to control the spark timing so no you can't do just the carb change.

There are many different ways to do the distributor and points is one of them, but I would not recommend that. This conversion has been done by others on this forum and they used electronic distributors. You can use an after market distributor that has everything in it including the control module or a Chrysler electronic pick-up type distributor with a 4 pin control module that was used in 1st Gens from 74-87.

The intake would be replaced with a carb compatible intake.

where can i get these disturber like what website and what brand would u recommend i was thinking msd? and i was think wile i have the intake off i would put a comp cam 275DEH so it would give me that mean muscle sound at idle and for a carb i was thinking a holley 770 truck avenger. i was doing some research and people said that i have to get a different fuel pump is this true. or can i get a regulator to regulate the pressure down so that it is at the correct psi?

thanks,

you could get get a stock setup or you could get one of those hei setups off of ebay for about $100 less. this is the one a lot of people go with and they seem to be happy with. just need this distributor and a 12v coil.

The swap to carb is more involved than you might think. What tranny is in the truck?

770 is an awful lot of carb for your engine as it is meant for 400+ horse power that you don't have. A 670 would be as high as I would go and that is a lot. A fuel pressure regulator will work or you can use a new LP pump.

i dont know exalty what tranny i have but i do know it is a 4 speed with overdrive and my truck is a 93 w150. so with the coil would i have to get a bottle coil?... so do you think i should jus go with the 670 or what do you recommend? because i am going to be putting 38 or 40's and i wanna be able to spin them but for now i have 33's and my efi can barley spin them.. if the 770 blows the motor up because of to much power i dont care because i wanna rebuilt it because i got it from a old man and he never went more than 20 mph in the thing and it has only had 3 oil changes and it has 60,000 miles on it so it really wasnt taken care of but anyways tell me wat u think.

Sounds like a 518 tranny. The 518 is computer controlled so you will need the following info also when you do away with the computer.

http://www.transmissioncenter.net/SwapInformation.htm

The 770 won't blow up the engine but you will never get it to run correctly with that much fuel. It won't ever idle good and it will probably bog down on acceleration.

You may be able to use an adaptor on the throttle body manifold but you won't get the power from the engine that you can with a carb intake.
