Default bad map sensor?

Starts fine and Idles fine for the most part, however on acceleration if I press the peddle quickly half way to accelerate, right before the truck shifts the truck stalls and makes a ping noise, when I let go of the peddle it starts back up. Almost feels like its starving for fuel. Noww would this be a map sensor? I also know the timing is out via a timing light, would this cause this? Engine is a 5.9l throttle body injection.

Is this the 90 Ramcharger? I doubt it is the MAP sensor. Correct the timing before you even start to look at anything else.

Base/stock timing must be correct before the MAP via the computer can advance the timing properly. Everything is based on your starting point. It is like counting how many fingers are on your hand but starting the count at 3 instead of 1. You will most likely end up with a poor result.

I know that an 89 will run without a map sensor hooked up at all. I was testing to see if mine was bad a year or so ago and unplugged it and ran it around the block. It seemed fine. It smelled extra rich, but it didn't want to stall. I wouldn't suggest it though. Check your timing like everybody said. Also, make sure your wires aren't arcing and crossfiring.
