what type of how to info are you wanting to know. are you looking for wiring diagrams on how to hook up a second alternator?

it is a lot simpler than you would think. this picture explains most of it but instead of taking power directly from the battery you have to find something that only has power when the ignition is in the run position. that wire that is labled 12v has to have positive power or you could kill the voltage regulator.

I know how the basic setup works, does that mean all i have to do is run the wires from the 1st alt and 2nd alt to the same volt reg or will i need a 2 regulators?

With the two alternators are you going to run 1 battery or two? What is the reason for two alternators? What are your power requirements?

i would say if you are going to run 2 alternators you will need 2 voltage regulators.

So 2 alts and 2 volt reguators, how do wire that? Will splicing in the 2nd volt reg. confuse them and stop both of them from working right?
I have 140amps of audio alone and a lot of lighting along with some other things. 1 100amp alt is not fully charging 3 batteries, ive been putting them on a charger at night.

you might be able to wire both alternators to share positive ignition power line with the current alternator but the other wire will have to be separate. you also have to make sure the voltage regulator is bolted to a good ground connection.

I would be interested in seeing a picture of the dual alternator bracket/set-up, I have been toying with the idea for a while. I am running three 1000 amp batteries with a isolator due to a heavy draw with my winch it has its own to isolated from the truck because it would stall upon a heavy winch load. works great with the extra two batteries but would like to run dual alternators.
