Need help identifying 'dodge' truck cap
Hi Guys, I'm new to the forum and recently decided I wanted a first generation Dodge Ram truck, after about a month of searching around my area I came across this 1992 Power Ram LE W150. The gentleman that I purchased it from is in his 80's and told me the truck had been garaged its entire life and indeed it shows. The interior is like new and the exterior is beautiful with original paint etc. As a matter of fact just about everything on it is original including the Chrysler stamped shocks.. so there will be some parts refreshing needed before too long. Anyways my question is about the cap that came on it. The owner told me it came from the Dodge dealer with this cap on it new. Can anybody help me identify the make of this topper? It has a large section toward the back that lifts up for easy access without opening the tailgate and has Dodge emblems on each side. We have plans of towing an RV and also hauling a motorcycle with the truck so the cap doesn't really fit in the plans but it is a beautiful and useful topper.. not sure weather to sell it or keep it with the truck if it is a rare 'dodge' option?

Thanks, I agree.. its a very useful cap and I have never seen another like it that I can remember but it is already off for now. It go's on and off easy, my wife and I had no problem lifting it off with just the two of us. Wanted to see what the truck looks like without it and also wanted to clean and wax the bed & check the condition of the bed rails. Here is a pic without the cap. I would still like to know who made it and their relationship/history with Dodge.

I have seen one, but the guy who owned it sold it, so I can't stop and look now. It was just like yours, but maroon, and on a 90s chevy. I'm nearly positive it was the same piece. I do specifically remember it had the same "boat tying point" looking handles on it. Where yours has the dodge emblem, it had the manufacturer's name. I'm almost positive it was leer or lund, but I wouldn't put any money on it.
The cap was manufactured by Slimeline Truck Covers on Northwest Blvd in Newton, NC. The owner was Rowe Bollinger who is a very good life long friend of mine. After about 25 years or longer of making them, about 3 years ago he finally decided to retire and closed the business.
There's nothing really special about the cap other than his patented design. He offered the option of no letters on the side front or he could install either the Dodge, Chevorlet, Ford, etc. You have a very high quality cap cover that sold new for $750-$800. Very seldom do I see any of the used ones come up for sale in my area and those that do are usually priced $300-$400 range.
